  1. Houston Spaceport Lecture Abstract

    Building the Houston Spaceport

The future of the Houston Spaceport is bright, having recently completed a Phase 1 infrastructure project and announcing three anchor tenant agreements. Owned and operated by the City of Houston Department of Aviation (Houston Airport System or HAS), Houston Spaceport is colocated with Ellington Airport, a joint-use civil/military airport located in the southeast area of Houston. Come hear how the Spaceport went from a simple concept to actively supporting planetary, LEO and Lunar activities while at the same time becoming an economic driver that supports the Houston community, the aerospace industry and our nation’s objectives.

How to Land on the Moon in 30 Months for Less than $100M

In early 2022, Intuitive Machines will return the United States of America to the surface of the Moon for the first time in 50 years. Intuitive Machines will deliver a combination of commercial and NASA payloads aboard it’s lunar lander, Nova-C.
The mission is familiar but the players are different. Space exploration is becoming increasingly commercialized, and Intuitive Machines is answering the ultimate question… How to land on the moon in 30 months for less than $100 million?

Please State the Nature of the Medical Emergency: Preparing for Medicine on Mars

As NASA prepares for the first human mission to Mars (targeted for the 2030’s), risk analysis has demonstrated that human system and medical risks become increasingly significant as the mission duration and distance from Earth increase. This lecture will outline some of the work at NASA to mitigate the medical risks associated with exploration spaceflight, including trade space analysis, medical system design, technology demonstrations, and the development of new medical capabilities.
