NASA's Human Research Program: Enabling Spaceflight Exploration

With the successful launch of the Artemis I mission, NASA is on a trajectory to return humans to the lunar surface and then journey further out into our solar system. NASA's Human Research Program (HRP) is charged with understanding the human health risks associated with exploration spaceflight missions and finding solutions to keep humans healthy and thriving on their missions. HR's work is distributed across five NASA Centers and carried out by researchers on Earth, in Low Earth Orbit and on upcoming Lunar missions. This talk will highlight priority research areas for the agency along with the different models of innovation and collaboration that HRP utilizes.

Solving NASA’s Problems by Harnessing the Power of the Crowd

This talk will examine how rapid changes in technology are driving seismic shifts in how organizations must innovate and work. Specifically, it will draw on NASA’s 10 years of experience with open innovation efforts across the US government and building access to almost 50 different crowdsourcing communities that represent over 200 million people worldwide. The talk will explore how organizations can use both open innovation and open talent effectively for keeping up with the increasing pace of change in technologies, skills, and markets. Finally, we will explore significant changes in the nature of the workforce and how organizations must adapt to a new future of work.
